Melody Bar

The legendary West Queen West venue will officially reopen on March 17, 2022, with a revamped menu, fresh look and a stacked line-up of local performers

TORONTO (March 2, 2022) – Streetcar Developments and Dream Unlimited Corp. (TSX:DRM) are proud to announce the final piece in the evolution of the historic Gladstone House: the official re-opening of their beloved Melody Bar. A staple in the West Queen West community since it first opened in 1889, the redesigned bar will feature an uplit dance floor, classic vinyl display collection, and multiple disco balls. The legendary room has always been known for its unique live performance offerings and guests can expect an even more vibrant community hub for entertainment with Melody Bar. The space will feature an extensive menu of bar classics and a robust line-up of live entertainment, spanning live karaoke, cabaret performances, trivia and of course, the infamous Sunday Drag Brunch.

In fall 2021, Gladstone House, formerly known as Gladstone Hotel, reopened to the community after an extensive year-long renovation. Situated in West Queen West, one of Toronto’s most creative neighbourhoods, the reimagined landmark continues to maintain its emphasis on culture, art, and diversity, while ensuring the building’s rich history and iconic original architecture remain preserved. Gladstone House, which has been a cultural pulse of the city for over 130 years, features a plethora of artistic new offerings that have helped usher the hotel into its next chapter.

Guests can now look forward to many more memorable nights at Melody Bar, with each night of the week dedicated to a different style of programming, including:

  • Live karaoke featuring Good Enough Live Karaoke, Hot Breath Karaoke and more
  • Cabaret Night featuring Mx Quest and their Non Binary Finary, Clowns Kill Empires and more
  • Trivia Night with Question Everything Trivia
  • A Drag Race UK Viewing Party
  • Live music featuring Gareth Bush, Big Smoke Brass, Running Red Lights and more

The bar’s highly anticipated Sunday Drag Brunch starring the legendary Miss Moco will also return in May.

“After two years of closures, restrictions and a loss of cultural experiences in our city, the time to revive Toronto’s creative energy is now,” says Kieran Roberts, General Manager of Gladstone House. “Local live music and entertainment has been hit hard these last couple years, and we’re so pleased to be creating a new home for the city’s local artists and performers. Melody Bar’s dedicated community has always been what makes the space so special and we can’t wait for the moment they re-enter its doors.”

Melody Bar’s events, programs and dining options will be open to hotel guests and the community alike. With an updated menu led by Executive Chef Richard Singh, the bar’s upgraded offerings vary from bar snacks, such as crispy prawns, corn dogs, to salads, bowls, flatbreads, and a classic smash burger.

Melody Bar at Gladstone House will officially reopen to the public March 12 with reservations available through OpenTable.
